Combat Rosary Soldiers Edition – a historical replica from the First World War
The Combat Rosary “Soldiers Edition” is a high-quality replica of the military rosary carried by Catholic soldiers of the United States in the First World War. It is distinguished by its sturdy construction and practical handling – qualities that make it especially well suited to use in demanding conditions.
Historical origin and recognition by the Church
The origins of this rosary design go back to the time of the First World War, when it was issued in large numbers to Catholic soldiers of the US armed forces. Because of its simple yet functional design, it was later recommended by various Church bodies as well.
Pope St Pius X, who did much to spread the praying of the Rosary, recognised early on the value of the Rosary as a spiritual weapon, including in military life. To this day the rosary is carried by members of the Pontifical Swiss Guard and is popular with many reservists and members of veterans’ associations.
Material and workmanship
The rosary is made of stainless steel. The ball chain, of the kind used in military equipment, is exceptionally hard-wearing and stands up to intensive use.
The Combat Rosary “Soldiers Edition” stands for spiritual steadfastness, tradition and the union of faith and history. Its use by soldiers, guardsmen and reservists underlines its special place as a symbol of prayer in life’s most testing situations.
The Pardon Crucifix was introduced by Pope Pius X in 1905. It bears the words “Father, forgive them” and is a symbol of forgiveness and mercy.
We place great value on quality and attention to detail. Every one of our designs is created with care and devotion. Our aim in designing this rosary was to create a rosary that is both elegant and practical.
Please remember to have your rosary and any other devotional items blessed by a priest before use.
If you have any questions about our products or their care, or would like to enquire about a custom design, please get in touch – we will be glad to help.
______________
Information on the Pardon Crucifix:
Whoever, at the moment of death, fortified by the sacraments of the Church, or with a contrite heart if unable or not disposed to receive these sacraments, kisses this crucifix, asks God for forgiveness and forgives his neighbour, will gain a plenary indulgence.
Indulgenced prayers: “Our Father, who art in heaven, forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.”
“I beseech thee, most blessed Virgin Mary, intercede for us with the Lord our God.” (translated from the German)
(Rescript of His Holiness Pius X on the Pardon Crucifix, 1 June 1905, addressed to Abbess Leman.)
Safety notice: This rosary is a handmade religious prayer item and not a toy. Not suitable for children under 3 years – contains small parts that could be swallowed. Long cords/chains may pose a risk of strangulation. Please check regularly for damage and do not continue to use if damaged.
